The Long Beach State women's volleyball team plays a pair of road contests this week as the Beach take on UC Davis on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m., before playing at UC Riverside on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 5 p.m.

About The Beach
• Long Beach State picked up a four-set victory at CSUN last week which snapped a six-match losing streak. The Beach are now 4-11 on the year.
• The win marked the first Big West Conference victory of the season for LBSU as the Beach move to 1-2 in league play.
• Senior libero Hailey Harward was named Big West Defensive Player of the Week after notching 22 digs to average 5.50 per set.
• The contest marks Harward's fifth 20-plus digs performance of the season as she brings her season total to 230 to average just under four digs per set.
• Harward's career total is now 1374 which is good for fifth all-time at Long Beach State. She is now 38 digs away from moving into fourth place.
• Offensively, sophomore Kashauna Williams leads the Beach with 4.10 kills per set. Last week at CSUN, she recorded her 13th double-figure scoring match of the season with 19 kills.
• Setters Tia Chavira and Carly Aigner-Swesey have both seen action on the court this season as Chavira leads the way with 9.19 assists per set, while Aigner-Swesey averages 8.74.
• At the net, Kjersti Norveel and Xue led the way with 1.17 and 0.86 blocks per set, respectively.
• Xue has amassed 348 career block assists and sits in ninth in the Long Beach State career record book.
• The Beach were chosen to finish fifth in the Big West Preseason Coaches Poll behind Cal Poly, Hawaii, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Irvine, respectively.
Scouting The Aggies
UC Davis is 10-7 overall and 2-2 in Big West Conference action. The Aggies opened conference play with a pair of wins over UC Irvine (3-2) and UC Riverside (3-0), before dropping road contests to UC Santa Barbara (3-0) and Cal Poly (3-2).
Lauren Matias and Mahalia White are the Aggies' leading scorers with 3.49 and 3.16 kills per set. Matias is also second on the team with 2.38 digs per set.
Setter Jane Seslar paces the UC Davis offense with 9.75 assists per set as the Aggies are hitting .238 on the year.
Defensively, libero Shira Lahav anchors the back row with 2.95 digs per set, while Josephine Ough leads the squad at the net with 1.36 blocks per set.
The Series: LBSU vs. UC Davis
Long Beach State leads the all-time series with UC Davis 26-3, however the Aggies have won three out of the last four contests against the Beach.
Scouting The Highlanders
UC Riverside is 5-10 on the year after having dropped five of their last six matches. The Highlanders are 1-3 in Big West Conference action with their only win coming on Sept. 24 against Cal State Fullerton, 3-1.
Ashley Dittmann is the team's leading scorer with 2.85 kills per set to go along with 1.93 digs per set.
Morgan Kline and Dejah Dade split setter duties as Kline sets the tone with 8.09 assists per set, while Dade contributes 6.54 assists per set.
Kline also leads the Highlanders with 2.70 digs per set.
The Series: LBSU vs. UC Riverside
Long Beach State and UC Riverside will meet for the 53rd time in program history and the Beach owns a 48-4 overall record. LBSU is won the last 15 matches as UCR is looking for its first win over the Beach since 2011.
LBSU in the BWC
The Beach have a trio of players who rank in the top three amongst Big West Conference opponents in statistical categories. Kashauna Williams is second in kills per set with 4.10, while Hailey Harward and Tia Chavira are third in digs per set (3.97) assists per set (9.19), respectively.
Killin' It
Sophomore outside hitter Kashauna Williams leads the Beach offense with 4.10 kills per set. She is the only LBSU player to average more than four kills per set. Additionally, she has led Long Beach State in kills in 11 of the team's 15 matches thus far.
Can You Dig It?
Hailey Harward has amassed 230 digs this season to average 3.97 digs per set. She sits in fifth place all-time at Long Beach State with 1,374 career digs. She is 38 digs away from taking fourth
Block Party
Senior middle blocker YiZhi Xue is in ninth place all-time at the Beach with 348 block assists. She leads the team with 50 total blocks and is second on the squad with 0.86 blocks per set.

Sophomore setter Carly Aigner-Swesey's name may sound familiar to Beach fans. If so, there is a reason - her older sister Delainey Aigner-Swesey played for Long Beach State from 2010-13. She also played Beach Volleyball and helped the team win their first-ever AVCA National Championship in 2013.
