Long Beach State Men’s Golf Finishes Fifth at Alister MacKenzie Invitational

Sophomore Tyler Schafer is the Beach’s top finisher as he tied for eighth shooting 10-under par
FAIRFAX, Calif. – The Long Beach State men's golf team turned in another top five finish as the Beach placed fifth at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational hosted by Cal. The Beach shot 830 for 22-under par to finish just five strokes from second place.
LBSU was led throughout the tournament by sophomore Tyler Schafer who shot 70-64-69 for 10-under par and finished in a tie for eighth place.
Senior Hunter Epson, the reigning Big West Conference Men's Golfer of the Month, tied for 17 after shooting 67-68-72 for 6-under par in the tournament.
Pepperdine won the tournament after shooting 43-under par. Cal, St. Mary's, Boise State and Long Beach State remained close throughout the tournament shuffling between second and fifth places and five strokes separated each team.
The Beach will be back in action on Monday, Oct. 21 at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational.
