Cal State Fullerton opened up the game on a 4-0 run, but Long Beach State battled back and evened the score on four separate occasions before the Titans squeaked out a 25-23 win over the Beach.
The second set was much like the first as the conference foes knotted the game three times before Cal State Fullerton pulled out another 25-23 victory.
Trailing two sets to none, Long Beach State opened the third set on a 7-1 run highlighted by an ace from Xue. The Beach held a comfortable lead, but the Titans chipped away before rattling off three straight points to tie the game at 20-20, forcing an LBSU timeout. Following the break in action, the two teams traded points until Fullerton sent it to match point (24-22) on a kill from Julia Crawford. The Beach utilized their second timeout and evened the score once more after back-to-back kills from Xue and Nelson. But the Titans would put the game and match away on a pair of Beach errors.
The Titans were led by Crawford's 15 kills and eight figs. She also added two blocks and hit .314 in the match. Setter Makenzi Abelman added 34 assists to go along with eight digs, while libero Savahna Costello led the team with nine digs.
