Beach Tennis Closes Out First Weekend Of Competition In Las Vegas

Long Beach State won five singles matches on the final day.
LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Long Beach State had a quartet of third place winners in singles as the Beach closed out their first weekend of competition at the UNLV Fall Invitational.
Junior Natalia Munoz picked up a victory in the top flight of competition, defeating Tamara Culibrk of San Jose State 7-5, 6-3 and Sadaf Sadeghvaziri did the same in flight two, winning 6-1, 6-3 over Ellie Millard of Northern Arizona.
Flight three featured two matches for the Beach and both were wins, as Lalita Devarakonda handily defeated Madi Moore of NAU 6-1, 6-1 in the third place match, while Emma Bardet was a 7-5, 7-5 winner over Miyo Kobayashi in the consolation final.
Wiktoria Rutkowska fell in the flight four championship, falling 6-4, 7-6 to Emilie Haakansson of NAU, while Carlota Casasampere was another third place match winner, defeating Kristina Baran 6-4, 6-3.
The Beach had a pair reach the championship match of both flights in doubles, but both pairs fell in the finals, as did Casasampere/Rutkowska in the flight two third place match.
Next on the schedule for Long Beach State is the ITA All-American, beginning on September 29. The Beach will also be prepping for their home fall tournament, hosted at the Rhodes Tennis Center from October 5 through October 7.
