LBSU Hosts Texas Tech Before Traveling East For Towson Invite
The Long Beach State women's volleyball team welcomes Texas Tech for a Monday morning contest inside the Pyramid to kick off the week, before traveling East to compete in the Towson Invitational. The Beach and the Red Raiders will go head-to-head at 11 a.m. on Labor Day. Following that match, LBSU will go up against Princeton on Thursday, September 6 at 9 a.m. (PT) and Towson on Friday, September 7 at 10 a.m. (PT) at the Towson Invitational.Â
About The Beach
• Long Beach State put together three-straight wins, before dropping a pair of contests to No. 18 Oregon and Utah Valley at the Oregon Classic last week.Â
• The Beach went 1-2 at the Oregon Classic with their lone win coming at the hands of Arkansas-Pine Bluff (3-0).
• Junior Hailey Harward was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Oregon Classic for her efforts. She lef the Beach in scoring as she averaged 3.56 kills per set, while also contributing 2.89 digs and 0.33 blocks per set.
• YiZhi Xue had a solid week as she led the Beach at the net posting a total of nine blocks (one solo, eight block assists), while also registering 1.20 kills per set.
• Freshman Carly Hill continued her stout defense in the backrow as she paced the Beach with 4.20 digs per set last week. She is now averaging 4.31 digs per set on the year.
• The Beach were selected to finish fourth in the Big West Conference preseason poll behind Cal Poly, Hawaii, and UC Irvine.

Scouting the Red Raiders
• Texas Tech comes into the match against Long Beach State boasting a 6-1 record.
• The Red Raiders' lone loss of the year came against Georgia, 3-0 [13-25, 19-25, 14-25].
• Texas Tech is 1-0 against Big West teams this season thus far, as the Red Raiders collected a 3-1 [23-25, 25-13, 25-18, 25-22] victory at UC Irvine on Saturday.
• As a team, the Red Raiders are hitting .237, while averaging 12.6 kills per set on 11.1 assists per set.Â
• The Red Raiders' offense is led by Emily Hill who averages just under 3.00 kills per set. She also contributes 2.50 digs per set and leads the team with 12 aces.

Scouting the Tigers
• Princeton heads into the Towson Invitational with a 3-0 record after having started the season with victories over Northwestern (3-0), Stephen F. Austin (3-0), and Colgate (3-0).
• With three sweeps to open the year, the Tigers have not lost a set yet and are hitting .274 on the season.
• The Tigers have a pair of hitters who average more than 3.00 kills per set in Devon Peterkin (4.22) and Maggie O'Connell (3.00).
• Peterkin is also hitting .349 on the year and adding 2.67 digs per set.
• Cameron Dames lead the backrow with 4.00 digs per set, while Clare Lenihan and Nnenna Ibe lead the Tigers at the net with five blocks each for an average of 0.83 per set.
