Big West Championship Begins Sunday For Women's Golf

LONG BEACH, Calif. - LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Long Beach State enters the Big West Conference Championship as the top seed for just the second time in school history, as the Beach prepares for the three-day tournament starting on Sunday, April 15. The tournament will be played at Strawberry Farms Golf Course in Irvine, Calif.
The championship consists of three rounds of 18 holes each on the Par 71 course. Each round will be played on a single day, with the eight teams competing for automatic entry in the to NCAA Division I Regionals which will go to the winner following the final round on Tuesday, April 17.
The Beach has twice advanced to the NCAA Regionals, and were the tournament champions in 2009, the last time the entire team advanced to the NCAA postseason.
Prior to the tournament, the Beach competed at the same course in the Black and Blue Rivalry Matchup against UC Irvine. LBSU took home the title for the fifth consecutive year as Haley Tygret and Holland Shourds led the way for Long Beach State. The duo carded a round best 68, three under par, outscoring their opponents by four strokes in the four-ball format. Jennifer Yu and Maria Davis finished the match at 72, one-over par while finishing five strokes ahead of their opponents.
The first two rounds of the tournament, April 15-16, will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the final round starting at 8:45 on April 17. Live scoring can be followed at golfstat.com.
