Track And Field Heads South To Triton Invitational

Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State's field athletes will take center stage this weekend, with only the throwers and pole vaulters competing on Friday and Saturday at the UCSD Triton Invitational.
The women will get the action started on Friday in three events. Amanda Truong, Brianna Uipi, Erykah McNairy and Crystal Rodriguez will all compete in two different throwing events, seeing action in the women's hammer and discus on Friday.
The Beach will also have a quartet in action in the pole vault, as senior Lauren Bartsch is the top seed in the open division of the event. Lea Fong, Hailee Brigman and Teresa Tamshiro are all also competing in the event on Friday.
Saturday, the men's squad will get their turn, while the women's javelin will also compete on the second day. Rodriguez returns for a second day of action to compete in the javelin, her third event, while being joined by Cassy Nychay.
For the men's throwers, Long Beach State will be competing in four different disciplines in five events. Josh Carr was selected to compete in the Discus Invitational division, while Nicholas Hudson, Tavi Kamarullah, Tony Sommers, Sullivan Wall and Ryan Coy will compete in the open division the LBSU's busiest event of the weekend.
Coy, Sommers, Carr and Hudson will also will also all compete in the Hammer Throw, while Kamarulla and Wall will each compete in the Shot Put.
Jeffery Pulcher will throw the javelin as the only representative for the Beach in that event, while Michael Magula and Dustin Wert are two of the 14 competitors in the invitational division of the Men's Pole Vault.
