Long Beach State Tennis Drops 5-2 Decision to Hawaii

LONG BEACH – The Long Beach State women's tennis team turned in a solid effort on Saturday against Hawaii, but came up just short as the Beach fell by a score of 5-2.
Long Beach State (2-2, 1-1 Big West) opened Saturday's match against the Rainbow Wahine (2-1, 1-0 Big West) and lost the doubles point. The Beach dropped a pair of matches by scores of 6-2 in the No. 2 and No. 3 spot as Hawaii earned the point at doubles.
Hawaii took a 2-0 lead after Petra Melounova edged Lena Pacholski, 7-5, 6-2, in singles action and extended its lead to 3-0 after Michelle Pits defeated Sadaf Sadeghvaziri, 6-4, 6-3.
Carlota Casasampere gave Long Beach State its first point of the day as she held off Roxanne Resma 6-2, 2-6, 6-1.
Following Casasampere's win, Natalia Munoz brought the Beach within one as she picked up a victory over Marina Hruba, 6-3, 7-5.
However, Hawaii would go on to win the last two singles matches handing Long Beach State a 5-2 loss.
Long Beach State will be back in action on Friday, February 16 at George Washington. Match time is set for 10 a.m. (PT).
