Junior Hunter Reed paced Long Beach State with a 1-under total of 141 through 36 holes at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational in Fairfax, Calif. on Monday.

FAIRFAX, Calif. -- Long Beach State men's golf wrapped up the first two rounds of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational on Monday, sitting in 11^th place after 36 holes. LBSU was nine shots better in the second round as every player improved his score following the first 18.

Junior Hunter Reed led the way for the Beach with a 1-under on the day. He held at even par in round one before picking up a shot in round two, as he was one of three LBSU golfers to shoot 1-under in the second round.

Senior Patrick Pockels finished at even par through the first two rounds, and fellow senior Joe Fryer was one shot back of him at 1-over for the day. Reed, Pockels and Fryer each posted scores of 70 in the second round. Junior Hunter Epson matched Fryer with a total score of 143 on the day.

The biggest improvement from the first round to the second came from freshman Tyler Schafer, who led Long Beach State with a round two score of 69. That mark of 2-under was 10 shots better than his opening round score.

Action will resume on Tuesday at 7:40 a.m. with the final round of play from the Meadow Club.
