INDIAN WELLS, Calif. - Long Beach State advanced through the quarterfinals of the 2017 Big West Women's Tennis Tournament with a comfortable 4-0 win over UC Davis on Friday morning at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. The Beach improves to 17-5 on the season while the Aggies drop to 15-10.

Long Beach State won the doubles point with wins from the No. 2 and No. 3 pairs. Freshmen Maren Helgo and Natalia Munoz won 6-2 at No. 3, then Lena Pacholski and Laura Eales secured a 6-4 victory at the No. 2 spot to secure the lead for the 49ers.

In singles, top player Maeva Razakasoa picked up the first win with a 6-0, 6-4 victory at No. 1. Munoz was next to pick up a singles win, scoring a dominant 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 5 spot in the lineup. Senior Julie Gerard then secured the clinching victory at No. 2, claiming a 6-0, 6-4 win to end the match. The remaining three singles matches remained unfinished with the decision already in hand for the Beach.

No. 3 seed Long Beach State advances to face No. 2 seed UC Santa Barbara in Saturday's semifinals at 9 a.m. The 49ers and Gauchos met just two weeks ago in Long Beach, with UCSB scoring a 4-2 win. That means LBSU will be looking for revenge to clinch a trip to Sunday's Big West Tournament final.
