Long Beach State Finishes Strong at Texas Relays, Bobcat Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas – Long Beach State completed its Texas tour as the Beach sent three student-athletes to compete at the Texas State Bobcat Invitational and a pair of relay teams to take part in the Texas Relays on the final day of competition of both meets.
Redshirt sophomore Jasmine Bass earned the top finish of the day for the Beach as she placed second in the women's triple jump at the Bobcat Invitational with a leap of 12.37m (40-07.00). Her mark in the event is a new season-high for the product out of Compton, Calif.
Also competing in the triple jump was Allison Foster who tallied a mark of 11.45m (37-06.75) which was just one inch shy of her season-best.
Rounding out the trio of Beach student-athletes competing in the Bobcat Invitational was junior Lauren Bartsch who earned a top 10 finish in the pole vault. Her mark of 3.80m (12-05.50) is a new season-high.
At the Texas Relays, the Beach sent a pair of relay teams to compete in the men's 4x200-meter and the women's 4x200-meter relay.
The men's squad, which was comprised of Kemonie Briggs, Isaiah Johnson, Kent Harris and Jason Smith came in ninth after running the event in 1:25.57.
On the women's side, the quartet of Ashleigh Chambers, Courtne' Davis, Azaria Hill, and Madison Carney placed 10th with a time of 1:37.66.
Overall, the Beach sent 11 student-athletes to compete on the final day of both meets in four events and came away with four top 10 finishes in a successful trip to the Lone Star State.
Long Beach State returns home to host the Big West Challenge on Friday, April 7 at Jack Rose Track. Field events begin at 1:45 p.m., while the track events start at 3:30 p.m.
