LONG BEACH, Calif. - Beach Tennis got a tough test from visiting UT Arlington on Wednesday afternoon, but Long Beach State was able to persevere and pull out a 4-3 win over the visiting Mavericks. Long Beach State improves to 10-2 with the win and is a perfect 6-0 at home this season, while UTA falls to 6-5.

The clinching win came from senior Maeva Razakasoa, who was named the Big West Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week earlier in the day. The senior came up with a 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 win over Angeles de los Rios at the No. 1 spot in the order to push the Beach over the top.

Julie Gerard and Maren Helgo won at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, with Gerard winning 7-6 (6), 6-4 and Helgo battling back nicely to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-0. The other singles winner for the Beach was Natalia Munoz at No. 5, winning 6-3, 6-2 for the most straightforward win of the afternoon. Razakasoa and Gerard also teamed up for a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles, but UTA was able to take the doubles point with a 7-5 win at No. 3.

Long Beach State will look to keep its momentum going on Friday afternoon as Yale visits for a 2 p.m. match. The Beach will be looking for its sixth straight win in that match.
