First Day of NCAA West Prelims Suspended Due to Inclement Weather

LONG BEACH - All events scheduled on the first day of the NCAA West Preliminary Championships have been suspended the NCAA and host Kansas announced late Thursday afternoon.
The men's hammer throw got underway at its scheduled start time of 12 p.m. (CT)/10 a.m. (PT). The first two flights were contested, but Flight 3 - which included Long Beach State's James Hubbard, Robert Marlow and Kody Robison - was quickly put into a weather delay and eventually postponed. Hubbard was able to get one throw in and sits in eighth place with a mark of 204-08.
The Beach had 12 athletes who were slated to start the NCAA West Prelims on Thursday, May 26. In addition to the three men's hammer throwers, Willie Alexander (M-Long Jump), Kemonie Briggs (M-Long Jump), Marina Shelton (W-Hammer), Fatima Vergara (W-Hammer), Michael Montgomery (M-Pole Vault), Xander Cooper (M-Pole Vault), Ryan Colebrook (M-400H), Courtne' Davis (W-100m) and Daniel York-Mouton (M-400m) had their events postponed.
