Teare Takes Fifth Place At Silverado Showdown

NAPA, Calif. - Long Beach State senior All-American candidate Kassidy Teare shot an even-72 in Tuesday's final round of the third annual Silverado Showdown to finish in fifth-place at the Silverado Resort & Spa North Course.

Teare closed out the three-day, 54-hole tournament with an even-216 to record her fourth top-five finish this year.

Teare, ranked 68th in Golfstat, finished ahead of six players ranked in the top-50, including No. 9 Emma Henrikson (T13th) of San Diego State, No. 13 Hannah Suh (T57th) of California and No. 26 Mariah Stackhouse (T13th) of Stanford.

Teare began her day on the 12th hole, scoring her first of four birdies for the round. The Vista, Calif. native would collect her second birdie on the par-4 14th, while picking up three bogey's before making the turn onto the front-nine. Teare would go bogey-free on her next nine holes that included two birdies. She would close out the round with a bogey on the par-4 10th and paring the par-3 11th to finish at even 72.

LBSU finished in 15th after recording a final round score of 306 to finish the tournament at 51-over 915.

Eleventh-ranked Stanford captured the team title with a one-over 865 as the Cardinal won by a comfortable 13 shots over No. 23 Oregon (+14) in second and 15 strokes over Pepperdine (+16) in third.

Sophomore Jennifer Yu carded a 75 to tie for 42nd, finishing the tournament at 10-over 226, while redshirt sophomore Savannah Knox and freshman Haley Tygret tied for 81st. Knox posted a 78, while Tygret shot an 81 as both players finished at 21-over 237.

Sophomore Felicia Taverrite shot an 85 at 35-over, finishing in 91st.

The Ducks' Cathleen Santoso won individual medalist with a five-under 211, winning by one shot over No. 6 Lauren Kim (-4) of Stanford and two strokes over No. 32 Esther Lee (-3) of Colorado.

The 49ers return to action on Sunday, Apr. 17, traveling to Lahaina, Hawai'i for the three-day Big West Conference Women's Golf Championship at Kapalua Bay Course.
