NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The Beach won all three of its singles matches on Sunday, concluding action at the Matador Collegiate Invitational at CSUN. Junior Lena Pacholski and freshmen Maren Helgo and Natalia Munoz all won their individual matches to bring LBSU's fall schedule to a close.

"I'm very happy with our singles today," said Beach head coach Jenny Hilt-Costello. "We learned from some tough matches yesterday and came out with strong performances today."

Pacholski dropped the first set against Utah State's Maggie O'Meara, but bounced back to take a 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 victory. Helgo and Munoz each won in straight sets, taking down a pair of Big West foes. Helgo topped Cal Poly's Seriana Saltzen, 7-5, 6-3, and Munoz defeated CSUN's Mari Udagawa, 6-3, 6-2.

In doubles, LBSU came up short in its two matches. Pacholski and Helgo played the consolation final in Flight A, losing 8-5 to Monika Van de Vondel and Lucy Octave of Utah State. Munoz partnered with Udagawa in the Flight B final, losing 8-3 to another pair from Utah State, Sophia Haleas and Hannah Jones.

The Beach will take a few months off from official competition and return to action in January with the Beach Tennis Winter Invite. Rhodes Tennis Center will host three days of competition, Jan. 20-22, 2017.
