FIRST TEE
The Long Beach State men's golf team opens the spring season at the LMU Invitational hosted by Loyola Marymount. The two-day, 54-hole tournament begins on Monday, Feb. 1, with first and second round action, followed by final round play concluding on Tuesday, Feb. 2. All three rounds will be contested at the par-72, 7,261-yard Reflection Bay Golf Club in Henderson, Nev.
LMU FIELD
LBSU will be among a 15-team field featuring Boise State, Boston College, Cal Poly, CSUN, Hartford, Loyola Marymount, Missouri State, Sacramento State, Saint Mary's, San Francisco, Seattle, UC Santa Barbara, UNLV and Wyoming.
49ERS STARTING FIVE
Seniors Michael Chen, Daniel Chian and Kevin Lee and juniors Jonny Hogan and Ryder Epson will represent the Beach at the LMU Invitational.
ABOUT THE COURSE
Reflection Bay Golf Club is set on luxurious Lake Las Vegas, located 15 minutes east of the Las Vegas Strip. A 320-acre man-made lake, Lake Las Vegas is the centerpiece of this high-end residential resort community. Built in 1998, Reflection Bay Golf Club was designed by 18-time Major winner Jack Nicklaus. The course is designated as a prestigious Jack Nicklaus Signature Design, the only such course located in the state of Nevada. Reflection Bay played host to the Wendy's 3Tour Challenge from 1998 to 2007, showcasing the talents of such champions as Bubba Watson, Fred Couples, John Daly and Phil Mickelson.

LAST TIME OUT
The 49ers closed out the fall season back in November with a disappointing 17th place at the 19-team Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic in Lahaiana, Maui. LBSU finished with a three-day score of 48-over-par 900. Senior Daniel Chian and junior Jonny Hogan were the top players for the 49ers, tying for 49th with a nine-over 222. Chian shot a 77, while Hogan carded a 78.
49ERS HOST 20TH DEL WALKER INTERCOLLEGIATE
LBSU is set to host the 20th edition of the Del Walker Intercollegiate Golf Classic, Feb. 29-Mar. 1, at Virginia Country Club in Long Beach. The 49ers will be among an 11-team field that features Cal Poly, CSUN, Cal State Fullerton, Loyola Marymount, Pacific, Redlands, Southern Utah, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara and Wichita State.
CHIAN NAMED BIG WEST GOLFER OF THE MONTH
Senior Daniel Chian was named Big West Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for September. Chian tied for 10th place at the season opening Golfweek Conference Challenge in Burlington, Iowa, completing the three-day, 54-hole tournament at 5-under-par 211. The Covina, Calif. native fired a career-low 65 in the final day that was highlighted by a bogey-free round that included seven birdies and 11 pars. Following rounds of 74 and 72 in the first two rounds, Chian jumped up the leaderboard by 20 spots after last Sunday's final round to tie for 10th with fellow classmate Michael Chen. LBSU finished the three-day, 54-hole tournament in seventh among 15 teams. This marked Chian's second Big West Golfer of the Month honors as he was awarded in October of 2013.
BIG WEST CHAMPIONSHIP HEADS TO SIMI VALLEY
The 2016 Big West Conference Men's Golf Championship heads to Simi Valley as the three-day tournament will take place at the Wood Ranch Country Club, May 2-4 hosted by CSUN.
COMING ATTRACTIONS
The 49ers return to action on Monday, Feb. 15, traveling up the 605 freeway for the Folino Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton at Industry Hills Golf Club in the City of Industry.
