LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The 23rd-ranked Long Beach State women's soccer team saw its four-game unbeaten streak come to an end with a 1-0 overtime loss to Loyola Marymount Friday evening at Sullivan Field.

LBSU dropped to 4-2-1 on the season, while LMU won its fourth straight to improve to 4-2-0 overall.

The Beach allowed its first goal since Aug. 28, as its 391-minute scoreless streak was snapped when the Lions netted the game-winner at the 97:03 mark.

The 49ers finished with five shots and two corner kicks. Junior Mimi Rangel led the way with two attempts, while freshman Fatmata Kamara, and sophomores Victoria Bolden and Jessica Vincent each had one. Junior keeper Ashton McKeown totaled three saves.

Rangel took both of her shots in the opening period, the first of which came in the 15th minute when her attempt off a free kick from the top left corner of the box was saved by LMU keeper Sophia Leksan.

Loyola Marymount appeared to have taken the lead in the 38th minute, but its goal was waved off after an offsides call. Bolden responded with a shot on the other end that missed high by inches and the two teams went into the break locked in a scoreless tie. The home team held a slight 4-to-3 edge in shots, while Long Beach State won the battle in corner kicks, 2-0.

The Lions outshot the Beach, 7-2, in the second half, but neither team was able to convert as it remained 0-0 at the end of regulation. Both of LBSU's attempts came within a two-minute span as Vincent sent one over the crossbar (63:15), before Kamara's shot sailed wide (64:31).

LMU then connected for the golden goal in the extra period as Jill Farley found the back of the net off a corner kick in the 98th minute.

This was the 49ers' fourth overtime game of the year (1-2-1) and the third in their last four outings.

Long Beach State returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 13, when it heads to USC for a 12 p.m. showdown. The game will be televised live on the Pac-12 Networks.
