Teare Closes Stellar Season At NCAA St. George Regional

ST. GEORGE, Utah - Long Beach State junior Kassidy Teare closed out her stellar season in Saturday's final round of the NCAA St. George Regional, tying for 41st place after shooting a 76 at Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club.

Despite making a two-shot improvement from Friday's second round of 78, Teare fell 12 spots in the standings from tying for 29th after 36 holes. Teare completed the three-day, 54-hole regional tournament at 16-over-par 229.

Teare tied with the 11th player in the nation, Lauren Diaz-Yi of Virginia and finished three shots ahead of No. 26 Mariah Stackhouse (+19) of Stanford. Teare also finished ahead of eight players ranked in the top-100.

For the second consecutive day, Teare began her round from the first tee, paring her first three holes before making her only bogey on the front-nine on the par-4 fourth hole to go 1-over. The Vista, Calif. native would par her next nine holes before collecting her second and third bogeys on the 14th and 18th holes. She would also post a double-bogey on the par-5 16th.

Top-ranked USC captured the regional team title at 28-over 880, as the Trojans led the field of 18 teams by six shots over second-place No. 16 Stanford (+34) and 12 strokes over No. 8 Arkansas (+40) in third. Twenty-second ranked UNLV (+43) finished in fourth, while No. 9 Virginia (+46) placed fifth and No. 38 California (+48) finished in sixth.

The Rebels' Dana Finkelstein won individual medalist honors with a 2-under 211, leading the field of 96 players by five shots over two players tied for second. Finkelstein was the only player to finish the tournament under par.

The three individuals that have advanced to the NCAA Championship are Alivia Brown of Washington State (6th) Meghan MacLaren of FIU (T7th) and Emily Williams of Middle Tennessee (T13th).

The top six finishing teams in each regional and top three individuals not on one of those teams, advances to the NCAA Championship on May 22-27 at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla.
