Britt, Montgomery Excel As Beach Conclude First Day Of Drake Relays, USCD Triton Invitational

LA JOLLA, Calif. - Michael Montgomery took first place in the men's pole vault and Amber Britt tied for second with a lifetime best in the women's pole vault in the first day of the UCSD Triton Invitational. The men and women's relays also closed out the first day with the prelims tonight in Des Moines, Iowa for the Drake Relays.
In the UCSD Triton Invitational, Montgomery finished with a mark of 16-02.75 in the pole vault. Dustin Wert followed, tying for third with a mark of 15-03.00, which ties his season best that he got in the Big West Challenge.
For the women, Britt led the way for the 49ers in the pole vault. The senior posted a lifetime best 12-01.50, which lifts her up in the LBSU All-Time Top 10 list from 10th to tying for 7th overall.
Freshmen Lauren Bartsch and Kennedy Krueger followed close behind both tying for fourth place with a mark of 11-07.75.
In the hammer, Marina Shelton finished with her mark of 176-01, Chaylene Bruggeman with 138-02, and Brianna Viltz with 121-04.
Melanie Samvalian completed the discus with a mark of 140-05, Viltz followed with 139-07, and Shelton with 116-03.
In Des Moines, Iowa, the men and women's relays concluded the prelims in the Drake Relays.
Kayla Goosby, Madison Carney, Ashleigh Chambers and Kristina Goosby made up the women's 4x100m and 4x200m squad. The women finished the 4x100m with a time of 46.64 and the 200m with a time of 1:39.60.
The men's 4x400m relay consisted of Michael Perez-Rogers, Cameron Glasgow, Jahmani Lockett and Cody Smith. They finished with a time of 3:10.68.
The 49ers will wrap up the weekend tomorrow in the last days of the Drake Relays and UCSD Triton Invitational.
