Sweep Of UCR Completes Another Perfect Big West Season

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- A sweep of UC Riverside on Thursday completed another perfect Big West season for the Long Beach State women's tennis team. The Beach (14-5, 8-0 Big West) left no match in doubt on the way to its second perfect Big West season in a row.
The Beach dominated from start to finish wrapping up its Big West schedule, and heading into the Big West Tournament undefeated. It all began with a pair of 8-0 doubles wins at the Nos. 2 and 3 matches to clinch the doubles point. Hayley Thompson and Ebba Unden finished off the doubles sweep with an 8-3 win at No. 1.
Julie Gerard began the singles portion of the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 and began a string of three unblemished wins for the Beach. Unden and Thompson also won 6-0, 6-0 in the Beach sweep.
Senior Karolina Rozenberg finished off her Big West regular season career with an appropriately dominant 6-0, 6-1 win at No.5. She owns a 22-1 record in Big West regular season matches through her four year career.
Laura Eales clinched the team win with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 and Maeva Razakasoa finished off the sweep with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1.
Beach Tennis will celebrate Rozenberg's outstanding career tomorrow when they take on BYU at 2 p.m. in their final regular season match.
