MALIBU, Calif. - The 30th-ranked Long Beach State women's tennis team fell 6-1 at No. 20 Pepperdine on Wednesday. Beach Tennis dropped just its second match of the season and is 8-2 overall.
The Beach surrendered the doubles point with losses in the Nos. 2 and 3 matches but avoided the sweep in the top doubles spot. Karolina Rozenberg and Laura Eales pulled out a 6-3 win at No. 1 over Lorraine Guillermo and Apichaya Ranglerdkriangkrai.
Julie Gerard captured a singles point for the Beach in the No. 4 match with a 6-3, 6-3 straight set win. The Waves took the remaining matches to capture the match 6-1. Karolina Rozenberg suffered her first loss in a dual match, ending her nine-match winning streak in dual matches.
The Beach will take a week-long break from the dual season but returns home next Wednesday to start a four-match homestand against Princeton.
