SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The No. 46 Long Beach State tennis team suffered its first defeat of the season in a 4-3 loss at Sacramento State. The deciding points in the match came when the host Hornets snuck away with two three-set wins.



The Nos. 2, 3 and 4 matches all went to a third and decisive set with the match tied at 2-2. Karolina Rozenberg won in the No. 5 match 6-3, 6-4 and Maeva Razakasoa won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 to set the table for the last few points.



Hayley Thompson rebounded from a narrow first set loss to take the No. 3 match 5-7, 7-5, 6-4 for the Beach's third point in the match. Julie Gerard took the first set the No. 4 match but eventually fell 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 in her first singles loss of the year. Ebba Unden won her second set to force a third and deciding set but fell 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 in the No. 2 match.



Sacramento State swept all three doubles matches as the Beach surrendered the doubles point for the first time this season. The 4-3 loss snaps the Beach's six-match winning streak to start the year - its best start in school history.



Long Beach State will look to rebound tomorrow when its faces Big West opponent UC Davis at 11 a.m.
