LONG BEACH, Calif. - Long Beach State women's tennis continued its dominant form on day two of the Beach Tennis Winter Classic, winning 11 out of 12 matches on the day. The Beach now has a combined 21-3 record in its season-opening tournament.

On Saturday, the Beach matched up with New Mexico in the doubles portion of the day and conference-rival CSUN in the singles portion. Several singles matches went into a third and decisive set but the Beach players were able to outlast their CSUN counterparts in every one.

Maeva Razakasoa showed a gutty performance after falling behind to start her singles match against CSUN's No. 1 player Vivian Lin. Lin took the first set 6-3 but Razakasoa only dropped one more game for the rest of the match as she claimed the 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1. Laura Eales also fought back from a one-set deficit in the No. 6 match to claim a 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 win.

Julie Gerard and Karolina Rozenberg breezed to wins in their respective matches as Rozenberg won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 and Gerard won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4. Ebba Unden needed a long tiebreak to take the first set at No. 3 and rode the momentum of the marathon win to a 7-6 (11-9), 6-4 match win.

Hayley Thompson, Ella Monsey and Alex Jones all took the first set of their respective matches but had to fight off their opponents after dropping the second. Thompson gutted out the 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 win at No. 2 and Monsey won 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 at No. 7. Jones dropped a tiebreaker in the second set, which forced a third, but was unfazed as she went on to win 6-4, 6-7 (7-3), 6-3 at No. 8.

The top three duos all won 8-3. The Beach kept their lineup the same as yesterday with Ebba Unden and Hayley Thompson grabbing their first win at No. 1. Rozenberg and Eales teamed up for the win at No. 2 while Razakasoa and Gerard earned the win at No. 3. The freshman duo of Monsey and Jones dropped the only match of the day in a tight battle. A mixed pair with one player from CSUN and one from New Mexico snuck out an 8-6 win at No. 4.

The Beach will face the CSUN doubles and Portland singles in the final day of the Beach Tennis Winter Classic tomorrow. The team will see its greatest challenge of the weekend with two nationally-ranked players at the top of the Portland singles lineup.
