
Chaewon Park Paces 49ers At Golfweek Conference Challenge

WOLCOTT, Colo. - Long Beach State senior Chaewon Park shot a 2-over-par 74 to tie for 21st place in Monday's opening round of the Golfweek Conference Challenge at the Red Sky Golf Club.
Playing on the par-72, 6,249 yard Fazio Course, Park was the top player for LBSU, pacing the 49ers to 10th with a score of 20-over 208. The San Pedro native posted three birdies and 11 pars, while committing three bogeys and one double-bogey for the round.
Pepperdine leads the field of 17 teams with a 4-under 284 as the Waves hold a one-shot lead over second-place Tennessee and six strokes over Campbell in third.
Junior Kassidy Teare is tied for 26th after shooting a 75 with three bogeys and 15 pars for the day.
Junior Janelle Sua finished two shots behind with a 77 to tie for 43rd, while fellow classmate Shawnee Martinez is tied for 77th after carding an 82.
Redshirt freshman Savannah Knox, playing in her first collegiate tournament, tied for 81st after recording an 83.
Alina Ching and Tatiana Wijaya of Pepperdine share the lead at 4-under 68 as the pair holds a two stroke lead over three players tied for third.
Second round play continues on Tuesday with the 49ers paired with Nebraska and Texas State and will be scheduled to tee off at 8:30 a.m. (PST).
