LONG BEACH - Long Beach State track & field will host five weeks of open clinics for all throwing events at Jack Rose Track beginning on Tuesday, July 1.
The Throws Clinic will be held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons with sessions available in one hour increments from 1-5 p.m. at Jack Rose Track on the campus of Long Beach State. The cost is $25 per session. Pre-registration is required and sessions must be scheduled 24 hours in advance to guarantee a spot.
The Long Beach State Open Throws Clinic will provide sequential instruction for the foundation and development in the discus, shot put, hammer, javelin and development of the Olympic lifts. Each level provides the thrower with an in-depth experience on progressive drills that enable a thrower to maximize their performance. All levels, from novice to experienced, are welcome.
The clinics will be directed by 49er throws coach Cory Loebl. During his tenure at The Beach, Loebl has coached 42 NCAA regional qualifiers and 10 NCAA national qualifiers. Under his guidance, LBSU has also had 17 Big West individual champions, one MPSF indoor champion, 43 All-Big West performers and six NCAA All-Americans. In addition, Loebl's athletes have posted four school records and 50 performances in the program's all-time top-10.
