Sand Volleyball Closes Regular Season This Week

Long Beach, Calif. - No. 5 Long Beach State will play one final ranked opponent at home in the regular season, hosting No. 8 St. Mary's on Thursday at the LBSU Sand Courts. The match will begin at 1 p.m.

The Gaels enter Thursday's match with an unblemished 10-0 record, but are making their first trip outside of Northern California, as well as playing their first ranked opponent in 2014. As the 49ers, Long Beach State enters Thursday's dual with a 7-4 record and riding a three-match winning streak. Long Beach State also dropped three of their losses by a single point, 3-2.

Thursday's match closes out a five-match home slate for the 49ers at the LBSU Sand Courts. The Beach will then participate in the Big West Challenge, with details regarding the tournament still being finalized. Held at the Huntington Beach Pier, dual matches will be played on Friday before pairs play continues on Saturday. Action on both days begins at 9 a.m.
