TARZANA, Calif. - For the second straight tournament, sophomore Kassidy Teare led the way for Long Beach State, tying for 29th place at the Bruin Wave Invitational and helping the 49ers place 11th at El Caballero Country Club in Tarzana.

LBSU recorded a 317 in Tuesday's final round to complete the two-day, 54-hole tournament at 72-over-par 936. The 49ers edged No. 43 UNLV by one stroke as the Rebels placed 12th and two shots ahead of No. 44 San Diego State in 13th.

Top-ranked USC won the team title with a 1-under 863 as the Trojans won by 11 shots over tournament co-hosts No. 17 Pepperdine in second and 21 strokes over No. 2 UCLA.

Teare carded a final round score of 78 to finish at 14-over 230. The native from Vista, Calif. started the day from the 10th tee and quickly went 1-under through four holes after recording her only birdie for the round on the par-5 12th. She would pick up her first of three bogeys on the 14th to go even on the remaining four holes on the back-nine. As she made the turn onto the front, she would run into trouble on the Nos. 2 and 3 holes, picking up two consecutive double-bogeys to go 4-over. Teare collected two more bogeys on the fifth and sixth holes and pared her last three to go 6-over.

Junior Chaewon Park and sophomore Janelle Sua tied for 37th at 17-over. Park posted her best round of the tournament making a seven-shot improvement from Monday's second round for a 74.

Sophomore Shawnee Martinez shot an 84 to tie for 65th at 27-over, while senior Rochelle Chan recorded an 86 to finish one shot behind at 28-over, tying for 68th.

The Trojans' Kyung Kim won individual medalist as she led the field of 86 players with a 3-under 213, winning by one shot over two players tied for second.
