
49ers Capture 34th Anteater Invitational For Third Consecutive Year

COSTA MESA, Calif. - Long Beach State recorded a 294 in Tuesday's final round of the 34th Anteater Invitational at Mesa Verde Country Club, to win the team title for the third consecutive year.
The 49ers completed the two-day, 54-hole tournament at 17-over par 869, winning by four shots over tournament host UC Irvine and Sacramento State tied for second at 21-over.
Cal State Northridge placed fourth at 27-over, followed by UC Santa Barbara (+29) in fifth, Grand Canyon (+39) sixth and Fresno State (+40) in seventh.
Sophomore Kevin Lee led the way for the 49ers, tying for second at 1-under 212. Lee posted his highest round of the tournament with a 74 to finish two strokes behind individual medalist Pete Fernanadez of UC Irvine. The La Palma native collected three birdies and six bogeys on the par-71, 6,803-yard course.
Sophomore Daniel Chian finished the tournament tied for 11th after shooting a 72 for a 6-over 219.
Junior JJ Holen shot a 73 to tie for 15th at 8-over, followed by freshman Agostino Milazzo (75) tying for 17th at 9-over.
Junior Kevin Techakanokboon (+18) tied for 34th.
LBSU returns to action Feb. 19-21, traveling to Lihue, Kauai, Hawai'i for the John A. Burns Intercollegiate.
