Martinez takes 16th place at SDSU Farms Invitational

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. - The Long Beach State women's golf team concluded the SDSU Farms Invitational with a total score of 86-over 950 to place 11th overall. LBSU carded a 316 (+28) in the final round on Tuesday.

The 49ers finished ahead of host San Diego State, New Mexico, Michigan and Wyoming. No. 1 USC (11-over 875) took top honors among an elite field that featured eight ranked teams.

Freshman Shawnee Martinez was Long Beach State's top finisher as she was 16th overall. Martinez shot a 7-over 79 in the final round to card a total score of 226 (+10).

Sophomore Chaewon Park put together her best round of the tournament as she fired a 1-over-73. Park, who had two birdies in the final round, moved up 11 spots in the individual standings to come in 50th at 239 (+23).

Freshman Kassidy Teare also finished strong with three birdies, two of which came on her last three holes, to notch a score of 81 (+9). Teare ended up tied for 56th at 28-over 244.

Junior Rochelle Chan tied for 60th (30-over 246) and senior Simone Hoey tied for 67th (37-over 253).

Competing as an individual, Bow-Kay Salotti was 78th overall.

USC's Sophia Popov won the individual title by one stroke (217) over Arizona's Manon Gidali.

Long Beach State returns to action on Monday, April 8, when it takes on UC Irvine in dual match play at Strawberry Farms Golf Club in Irvine.
