LONG BEACH - The Long Beach State men's golf team overcame an eight-shot deficit in Tuesday's final round of the 17th Del Walker Intercollegiate Golf Classic to win the team title at Virginia Country Club.

LBSU recorded a tournament low 274 to finish with a 54-hole score of 2-under par 838. The 49ers were the only team in the tournament to finish under par. The tournament host held a three-stroke lead over second-place Pacific as the Tigers finished at 1-over.

This is the 49ers second consecutive tournament title this year and the first Del Walker Intercollegiate win since sharing the title in 2000 with San Diego.

Senior Raymond Ho paced the 49ers firing a final round 69 to tie for fifth. This was Ho's second consecutive top-10 finish this season. The Cerritos native carded his second 69 of the tournament to finish with a 54-hole score at even-210.

Ho started the morning off with two consecutive birdies from the Nos. 1 and 2 holes. He ran into trouble on the third hole collecting his first of two bogeys for the round. Ho remained 1-under through the next 12 holes until making his second bogey on the par-4, 401-yard 16th. Ho made par on the 17th and closed out the tournament birding the par-5 18th to finish at 1-under.

Sophomore JJ Holen recorded his first career top-10 finish as he placed eighth. Holen carded an even-70 to complete the 54-hole tournament at 1-over 211. Holen's scorecard was highlighted by a bogey-free back-nine that included two birdies.

Senior Philip Chian fired a 69 to tie for ninth at 2-over, while younger brother Daniel tied a tournament low round of 66 to tie for 13th at 3-over. Daniel started the round with two consecutive bogeys, but quickly rebounded with a birdie on the third hole and would par the next seven holes. On the back-nine, Daniel collected five more birdies and three more pars to end the tournament at 4-under.

Freshman Kevin Lee carded another 71 to tie for 13th at 3-over.

Freshman Carter Pool and sophomore Kevin Techakanokboon, playing as individuals, tied for 40th and 43rd respectively. Pool shot a 74 to finish at 17-over, while Techakanokboon carded a 75 to finish at 18-over.

Tyler Torano of Loyola Marymount won individual medalist honors with a 7-under 203, winning by four shots over two players tied for second.

LBSU returns to action Mar. 8-10, taking part in the Bandon Dunes Championship hosted by the University of Oregon in Bandon, Ore.
