49ers Drop 4-3 Decision to Loyola Marymount

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -
No. 39 Long Beach State suffered its first loss on the season, dropping a 4-3 decision to Loyola Marymount Friday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Center.
In doubles play, Klaudia Malenovska and Sarah Cantlay captured the lone 49er win as they defeated Jin/Razzeto 8-4 at the No. 1 spot. Ebba Unden and Karolina Rozenberg fell to Bisharat/Parravi 8-6 and Anna Jeczmionka and Anne-Sophie Willems lost to Rohonyi/Kouyoumjian by the same score.
In singles, Sarah Cantlay won her seventh consecutive match, beating Claudia Razzeto 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot. Eva Rodriguez bounced back from a loss on Thursday to take down Reka Rohonyi 6-3, 6-1 and Karolina Rozenberg defeated Kristine Kouyoumjian 6-3, 7-5. Klaudia Malenovska and Ebba Unden fell at the No. 1 and 2 spots. It was the first loss of the season for Unden, who had won four matches in a row coming in to the contest. At the No. 5 spot Anna Jeczmionka fell to Maya Jin 6-2, 6-1.
LBSU will look to get back on track with a pair of home matches next weekend. The 49ers will host LSU on Saturday and UC Santa Barbara in a Big West conference match on Sunday. Both matches will be at the Rhodes Tennis Center and begin at 11 a.m.
