
Women's Tennis cruises to 6-1 win over Dartmouth

Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State swept the doubles point and then won five of six singles matches in a convincing win over Dartmouth on Thursday at the Rhodes Tennis Center, winning 6-1.
Long Beach State started out with a doubles point victory. Rachel Manasse and Laura Bernard defeated Sarah Leonard and Theresa Smith 8-1, while the 49ers took the point with an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles as Sarah Cantlay and Julie Luzar were winners against Akiko Okuda and Jeri Reichel. The 49ers then swept the point as Anais Dallara and Karolina Rozenberg won 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.
Dallara and Bernard worked two quick wins at the top of the lineup, as the seniors won 6-4, 6-0, and 6-0, 7-5 over Leonard and Okuda respectively. 49er freshman Rozenberg also had a nice win at No. 6, earning her second dual victory of the season in three matches with a 6-1, 6-3 defeat of Shelly Carpeni.
Long Beach State's other two wins came at No. 3 singles, where another freshman won in straight sets in Bernard, topping Smith 6-2, 6-3, while Luzar won in three sets 2-6, 6-0, 10-7. Cantlay took the only loss of the day, falling 7-6, 6-0 to Sabrina Stewart.
The 49ers have this weekend and the next off, before returning to action against a pair of Big West Conference foes in important league action, facing Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara on the road.
