LAS VEGAS - After one round of play at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, the Long Beach State women's golf team recorded a 34-over par 322 to finish in 17th place.
Wisconsin and Indiana are tied for first with a 4-over 292 as both teams leads the field of 18 teams by seven strokes over Minnesota (+4) in third.
Senior Simone Hoey led the way for LBSU shooting a 77 at the par-72, 6,261 yard Stallion Mountain Golf Club to tie for 40th. Hoey collected two birdies and seven bogeys for the round.
Junior Rochelle Chan carded an 80 to tie for 62nd, while freshman Kassidy Teare finished two shots behind with an 82 to tie for 76th.
Freshman Shawnee Martinez and sophomore Chaewon Park recorded an 83 to tie for 83rd.
Sophomore Bow-Kay Salotti, playing as an individual, finished with an 82 to tie for 76th.
Eilzabeth Tong of Indiana leads the field of 96 players by one shot.
Second round action continues on Monday with the 49ers teeing off at 8:58 a.m. with North Texas and Colorado State from the 10th tee.
