Las Vegas, Nev. - Anna Jeczmionka advanced to the singles finals in her flight as the 49ers completed their second day of three at the UNLV Invitational at Las Vegas. Rachel Manasse and Sarah Cantlay also advanced to the finals in their flight of doubles competition.

With five players competing in the singles semifinals for Long Beach State, it was a busy day of competition, highlighted by Jeczmionka's win over Manon de Lanleay of UNLV. A solid newcomer for the Rebels, de Lanleay is a -2/6 rated player from France, and Jeczmionka was in control throughout in a 6-1, 6-4 victory in the semifinals of flight two. Long Beach State just missed having an all-49ers affair in the finals of that flight, as Sarah Cantlay won the first set over Ginet Pinero of New Mexico State before falling 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.

In flight one, Rachel Mansse's run was ended by the top seed Caroline Rohde-Moe of Mississippi, but the senior went down in a fight, falling in a tough first-set tiebreaker before losing 7-6 (5), 6-1 to the No. 75 player in the country. The seeds held in the other semifinal as well, as second-seeded and No. 95 Lucia Batta of UNLV defeated Anais Dallara 6-4, 6-1.

Freshman Karolina Rozenberg's time in the main draw ended on Saturday in a long match in the third flight, as she won the first set against Denise Van Der Ben of New Mexico State, but was outlasted in a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 defeat.

Fellow freshman Laura Bernard rallied from a forced retirement from the heat on Friday to have a very successful day on Saturday. Playing two doubles matches as well on the day, Bernard picked up a good win over Iris Verboven of Mississippi in extra action, winning convincingly 6-2, 6-1.

Doubles action began on Saturday as well. Bernard and Dallara paired up in the top flight, and defeated Sylvain/Pinero of New Mexico State in the quarterfinals before dropping a hard-fought decision to Stephens/Rangel of Mississippi 9-7.

Manasse and Cantlay advanced to the finals in flight two, courtesy of an 8-4 win over Guthrie/Keating of Mississippi, while Bechtel/Botha of Florida Gulf Coast defeated Jeczmionka and Rozenberg in the 49ers other doubles match.

Play concludes tomorrow as the 49ers will see Jeczmionka and Cantlay/Manasse attempt to win their flights in the main draw. Each player is tentatively scheduled to have a singles and a doubles match on the day however, similar to action on Saturday.
