Five 49ers head to Oregon for USA Track & Field Championships

USA Junior Track & Field Championships
LONG BEACH - Long Beach State has five athletes who will be competing in the 2011 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., June 23-26.
Colin Dunbar (hammer) and Tyler Wallace (pole vault) are set to compete in the senior meet. Team USA for the 2011 IAAF World Championships, which will be held Aug. 27-Sept. 4, in Daegu, South Korea, will be selected at the USA Track & Field Championships. Dunbar and Wallace will also be looking to qualify for the World University Games (Aug. 12-23) and the Pan American Games (Oct. 24-29).
Wallace enters the USA Championships ranked 14th overall, while Dunbar is 15th. Both individuals are fourth in the college ranks in their respective events.
Dillon Fox (decathlon), Andrew Garcia (steeplechase) and Heath Reedy (5000m and 10000m) are entered in the USA Junior Track & Field Championships. They will also be competing for a spot on the U.S. Team for the Pan American Junior Athletics Championships, which will be held Oct. 13-20 in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Reedy is ranked third in the 10000m and sixth in the 5000m, while Fox is 11th in the decathlon. Garcia is also 23rd in the steeplechase.
