Lein ties for 17th place at San Diego Intercollegiate

CHULA VISTA, Calif. - Long Beach State sophomore Benjamin Lein fired a 1-under par 71 in Tuesday's final round of the San Diego Intercollegiate to finish the 54-hole tournament at 6-over 222, tying for 17th place.
Lein was the top player for LBSU recording three birdies on the front-nine and just two bogeys on the back at the third and fifth holes.
LBSU shot a 381 to record a total score of 1141 (+61) to finish in seventh. UT Arlington and SMU tied for first-place as both teams finished at 13-over (1093). The tie-breaker between SMU and UT Arlington was broken with a card-off. Each team's No. 6 player's lowest score on day 3 was put head-to-head. Aaron Stewart's 73 beat Brad Lyle's 77 giving SMU the official championship victory.
Kevin Roy carded a 77 to finish the tournament with a 223 (+7), tying for 20th, while Philip Chian improved by four-strokes for a 74 to move up in the standings from 42nd to tie for 36th with a 228 (+12).
Kevin Lim tied for 46th with a final round 81 and Raymond Ho finished in 54th with a 78.
Paul McConnell of Texas-Arlington captured individual medalist with a 2-under, winning by one-stroke over Kelly Kraft of SMU (-1).
The 49ers return to action Mar. 28-29, traveling up the coast to Santa Barbara for the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate hosted by UC Santa Barbara.
