San Francisco, Calif. - Brennan Metzger had two hits and scored twice, including the game-winner as Long Beach State beat San Francisco 5-4 in the team's second of three games at AT&T Park in San Francisco.

Long Beach State touched up San Francisco starting pitcher Kyle Zimmer early on in the game. Metzger singled to start the game, stole second, and came around to score on a groundout and a sacrifice fly from Matt Duffy. Then in the second inning, Long Beach State added three more with a two-out rally.

Brennan Fulkerson got the rally started after getting hit by a pitch, and Kirk Singer singled up the middle to put two runners on. A triple by Jeff McNeil brought home both runners, and then McNeil scored on a double by Michael Hill, putting the Dirtbags out in front 4-0.

San Francisco was able to slowly pull back into the game however. The Dons scored a pair of runs in the third inning, as back-to-back singles from Connor Bernatz and Pete Lavin were followed up by a two-run double by Adam Clear.

USF scored again in the next inning, pushing across a run after a leadoff double by Nick Balog, and finally tied the game in the bottom of the sixth on an unearned run.

The Dirtbags regained the lead in the eighth inning, as Metzger doubled to start the frame, and after moving to third on a balk, a sacrifice fly from Hill allowed LBSU to get back on top by a 5-4 margin.

Eddie Magallon pitched a hitless ninth to record his third save of the season and second in two days. Derek Sesma earned the win in relief.

Long Beach State will try to get a sweep on the weekend at the Cal Baseball Classic, playing No. 20 Cal in the final game of the series tomorrow at 4 p.m.
