Jacob named to Capital One Academic All-District 8 Team

LONG BEACH - Senior forward/guard Courtney Jacob (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier HS) has been named to the 2010-11 Capital One Academic All-District 8 Second Team the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday.
Jacob is the 49ers' leading rebounder (6.7 rpg) and ranks second on the squad with 13.3 points per game. She recently earned her second consecutive Big West Player of the Week award after posting back-to-back 20-point performances. Jacob poured in a season-high 23 points in a win over Pacific on Jan. 27, before coming back two days later to register her third double-double in the last four outings with 20 points and 12 rebounds at Cal State Fullerton.
On the season, Jacob has compiled a team-best 14 double-figure scoring games and four double-doubles. She is also LBSU's assist leader with 3.6 helpers per contest.
This is Jacob's first Academic All-District selection. She is also a two-time Big West All-Academic pick.
To be eligible for Capital One Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum 3.30 GPA, be a significant contributor to the team and must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing.
