
Dallara beats #105 Smyth to move into ITA Regional semifinals

San Diego, Calif. - Senior Anais Dallara picked up another win over a ranked and seeded opponent at the ITA Regionals, defeating Lacey Smyth of Arizona to reach the semifinals in singles.
Dallara, seeded 11th, played the seventh seed #105 Smyth in her only match of the day, and after winning the first set 6-4, Smyth was forced to retire, giving Dallara the win and the advancement. Dallara will now face USC's Zoe Scandalis in the semifinals, as the tenth seed upset her teammate and top-seeded Danielle Lao in the quarterfinals.
In Long Beach State's other match in the main draw, Sarah Cantlay and Julie Luzar lost to the fourth-seeded team of McCall Jones and Pamela Montez 8-3 in the quarterfinals.
The 49ers played one other doubles match on Saturday, as Laura Bernard and Rachel Manasse defeated Paula Cos and Sofia Novak of UC Santa Barbara by an 8-2 score.
In scheduled singles matches, Luzar defeated Taylor Raney of UC Riverside 6-0, 6-3, while Karolina Rozenberg lost to San Diego State's Kristen Buth 6-1, 6-3, while Laura Bernard lost to UC Santa Barbara's Kiersten Meehan 6-4, 7-6 (6).
Dallara will play Scandalis at 9 a.m. tomorrow in the semifinals.
