San Diego, Calif. - Long Beach State's Rachel Manasse and Laura Bernard both reached the second day in both singles and doubles as the 49ers finished their first day at the ITA Regionals. Sarah Cantlay and Julie Luzar also advanced in doubles, while 11th seeded Anais Dallara held form to move on to Friday's action.

In singles, both Dallara and Manasse had first-round byes before playing in the Round of 64. Dallara held her spot in the draw, defeating UCLA's Holly Fleming in straight sets 7-5, 6-2, while Manasse won a battle with San Diego State's Sierra Ellison, prevailing in three sets 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.

Freshman Laura Bernard had the toughest road into the Round of 32, winning her first round match over Morgan Thomas of UCLA, leading 6-3, 4-0 when the Bruin retired. She then won her second round match over Taylor Raney, who had received a bye, in convincing fashion 6-1, 6-2.

Rozenberg continued to showcase improved play from her early tournaments this fall. In the Round of 128, the freshman defeated Sabrina Man-Son-Hing of CS Northridge 6-4, 7-5, and then lost in a difficult three set match to Ale Granillo of Pepperdine, falling 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Julie Luzar also had a good day despite not advancing, winning her first match over Maja Sujica 7-5, 6-1, before falling to UC Santa Barbara's Natalia Lozano in three sets 6-3, 3-6,6-3.

In Long Beach State's other singles matches, Anna Jeczmionka defeated Nigora Sirojiddinova of CS Northridge 6-4, 6-1 before falling to Laura Claus of San Diego. Cantlay received a first-round bye, but was defeated in three sets by Hawaii's Jamie Pawid 0-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Long Beach State played two doubles matches in the opening round on Thursday. Cantlay and Luzar defeated Jin/Parravi of LMU by an 8-3 margin, while Dallara and Rozenberg lost to Joanna and Nicole Smith of Arizona State in a close 8-6 match despite competing together for the first time.
