Berkeley, Calif. - Deborah Armstrong continued her outstanding play at the Cal Invitational, as the senior completed the second day of action by remaining undefeated in both singles and doubles play.

Armstrong advanced to the semifinals of the blue flight in singles, defeating Jenny Jullien of Saint Mary's 6-3, 6-4. Meanwhile, in doubles play, Armstrong along with her partner Anais Dallara advanced to the doubles final in the blue flight. First the pair defeated Pacific's Goehl/Maciel 9-8 in a thrilling match, and then advanced to the finals with a blowout win over Sacramento State's Knoebl/Savchuk, winning 8-2.

Other highlights of the day included a doubles title win for Anna Jeczmionka in the white flight. Since the 49ers only brought seven players, Jeczmionka was paired with Florence DeVrye of Nevada, who also came with an odd number of players. Together, the fresh duo beat Craig/Young of BYU in the semifinals 8-1, and then defeated Irvin/Te of Pacific 8-2 in the finals to claim the white title.

In the top flight, Klaudia Malenovska's singles run was stopped by Claire Soper of Saint Mary's 6-2, 6-2. In doubles, Jaklin Alawi and Malenovska advanced to the semifinals of the consolation bracket after beating Le/Wagner of Santa Clara 9-7, but then fell in the semis to Hansen/Widjaja of Pacific 8-6.

Cantlay/Luzar fell 8-6 to Brown/James of ASU in the blue flight, rounding up the doubles play for The Beach.

Long Beach State also had five matches consolation singles matches set up outside of the original draw, where the 49ers had four winners. The biggest win came from #100 Alawi, who scored a nominal upset by defeating Arizona State's Hannah James, ranked #99, 6-3, 6-2.
