Long Beach, Calif. - Former Dirtbag and current Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria will be featured on ESPN's news show, E:60, today at 4 p.m on ESPN.
The feature will focus on Longoria's rise from an undrafted high school prospect through his days at Rio Hondo junior college and Long Beach State on the way to becoming the third overall pick in the Major League Baseball Draft and the 2008 American League Rookie of the Year, leading the Rays to their first World Series appearance in 2008.
The slugger is certainly avoiding a sophomore slump in 2009, having been voted into the starting lineup for the American League in the All-Star Game, becoming just the second Long Beach State player to be named a starter in the league. Additionally, Longoria is among the major league leaders in both home runs (21) and RBI (78) while keeping the Rays within striking distance of both the AL East division lead and the Wild Card.
Overall this season, Longoria is hitting .273, with 102 hits and 58 runs scored, complimenting his home run and RBI totals.
