2009-10 Women's Basketball Prospectus

LONG BEACH - First-year head coach Jody Wynn will look to guide the Long Beach State women's basketball team back to its winning ways in 2009-10. The 49ers return 11 letterwinners and four starters from last year's squad.

Leading the way for The Beach will be senior and three-time All-Big West Conference selection Karina Figueroa (Corona, Calif.), who redshirted last season. Figueroa, a 5-8 guard, has averaged 13.5 points per game over her career at The Beach.

Joining Figueroa will be Whitney Fields (Miami, Fla.), who led LBSU in scoring (12.6 ppg) and rebounding (8.7 rpg) in 2008-09. Fields' rebounding average was also tops in the conference as she earned second-team All-Big West honors.

Senior Lauren Sims (Fullerton, Calif.) and sophomore Adelle Walton (El Cajon, Calif.) also return to The Beach after earning Big West honorable mention and all-freshman team honors, respectively.
