DES MOINES, Iowa - Five 49ers took part in the 100th annual Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday afternoon.
The quartet of Alex Goldberg, Richard Crawford, Kenneth Medwood and Alex Freitas were looking to defend Long Beach State's sprint medley relay title, but were unable to accomplish the feat after being disqualified.
Also competing in the 400m hurdles were Christopher Lawson and Medwood. Lawson just missed out on an NCAA Regional qualifyiing mark as he finished in seventh with a season-low 53.02. Medwood, who has already earned a regional berth in the 400 hurdles, clocked in at 53.64, which was good enough for 11th place.
Long Beach State returns to action next weekend as it is slated to compete in the UCI/Steve Scott Invitational, May 2-3.
