Broomfield, Colo. - Long Beach State All-American Kay Hoey continues where she left off two years ago as she claimed the medalist honors at the University of Colorado Heather Farr Memorial Invitational. Hoey shot a 1-under 71 in the final round at the Omni Interlocken Golf Course to beat out 2nd place Emily Childs of Notre Dame by three shots. This was Hoey's first tournament victory since winning the Big West Conference Championship in 2007. Overall, this was her seventh victory in her stellar career at Long Beach State.

The 49ers as a team, finished in 5th place with a 9-over 873 as they recorded a 286 on Tuesday morning. The Beach improved by nine shots from the day before as they scored a 291 in the second round. Notre Dame was the claimed the team title with a 6-under 858 as the Irish won by five shots over Texas Tech.

Lee Lopez, playing in only her second collegiate tournament, finished in the top 10 for the second straight time as she completed the two-day tournament in 7th place. Lopez carded a 2-over 74 in the final round to finish with a 3-under 213.

Reina Rogers came back on the last day to improve with an even 72 to move up from 65th to tie for 49th. Rogers finished with an 11-over 227. Brenda Chhuor also moved up in the standings by six spots as she shot a 3-over 75 to finish tied for 59th. Erin Cylke continued with her strong performance from the second round to move up from 87th to tie for 73rd. Cylke recorded a 3-over 75 on the last day to finish 17-over 233.

"I'm really proud of all of the players as they played remarkable golf the past two days," said 49er Head Coach Sue Ewart. "The team should be really proud of themselves on how they represented the program and the University. We're going to enjoy this for a few days especially for Kay, then it's back to work on even getting better for our next tournament!"

The 49ers are back in action as they travel up to Washington state for the Edean Ihanfeldt Invitational in Sammamish, Wash. The three-day tournament begins on Monday, Oct. 6.
