49ers Improve In Final Round At Saint Mary's Invitational

Pebble Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State improved by nine shots as the 49ers moved up in the standings from 11th place to 9th at the Saint Mary's Invitational. LBSU tied with Loyola Marymount with a score of 876 for the two-day tournament at Poppy Hills Golf Course. San Francisco claimed the team championship with an 855 and held onto a five shot lead over second place Wisconsin.
Ricky Montanez was the top finisher for The Beach for the second consecutive tournament as he finished in a four-way tie for 11th place as he shot an even-71 in the final round.
Domingo Jojola of San Francisco was the individual medalist as he recorded a 6-under 207 to hold onto a one shot lead.
Kevin Lim finished in a five-way tie for 18th with a 217, while Michael Drake landed in a six-way tie for 42nd with a 221. Steve Gibson and Kevin Roy finished tied for 67th and 69th respectively.
The 49ers are next in action as they travel to Palm Desert for the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. The two-day tournament begins on Saturday, Oct. 4.
