49ers In 11th Place After Day One In Pebble Beach

Pebble Beach, Calif. - After day one at the Saint Mary's Invitational, Long Beach State is in 11th place with a 592 score. The 49ers shot a 299 in the opening round and came back to improve by six shots to finish with a 293 in the afternoon round. University of San Francisco sits on top of the standings after carding a 572 (293-279) for the day. The Gaels have a four shot lead on second place Cal State Northridge.
Individually for The Beach, freshman Kevin Lim is tied for 11th place with a 143 (72-71) and sophomore Ricky Montanez is one shot behind with a 144 (70-74), tied for 16th. Junior Michael Drake (81-69) improved 12 shots in the second round as he moved up in the standings from 81st to a 54th tie. Junior Steve Gibson finished in 80th (150) and freshman Kevin Roy is in 81st (158). Domingo Jojola of San Francisco is on top of the leader board with a 137, a two shot lead ahead of Doug Fortner of Notre Dame.
Final round action continues tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m.
