LOGAN, UT-- Long Beach State (5-2-2) scored three goals over the final 16 minutes to split their first of two weekends away from home, rebounding to defeat Utah State (4-5-1) 3-0 on Sunday morning.
The three goals in the second half was a school-record.The win was Head Coach Mauricio Ingrassia's 50th career win, as he is now 50-28-9 in five seasons at the helm.
The 49ers, who lost at Utah 1-0 on Friday, out shot the Aggies 10-to-5, allowing just one shot on goal, while posting their fifth shutout of the season.
LBSU finally broke through in the 75th minute, as Kim Silos took a pass from Mariko Strickland and found the lower right corner to make it 1-0. A minute earlier, Silos' shot had been saved by Ali Griffin in a sign of things to come, as the 49ers missed on their first five attempts of the contest.
Utah State tried to respond four minutes later, but goalkeeper Liz Ramos made her only save of the contest on a Lindsay Smart shot as the 49ers tacked on two goals to put the match out of reach. The shutout tied the Big West record for shutouts in a career by Ramos, as she now has 31.5.
Lindsay Bullock made it 2-0 in the 82nd minute, heading in a long cross from Nicole Hubbard, before Kristen Kiefer finished off the scoring with three seconds left till the end of regulation, scoring from 11 yards out to make it 3-0.
