Regional Field Announced for LBSU Regional

LONG BEACH--The 64-team bracket was announced on Memorial Day and the Long Beach State Regional will have a familiar feel to it, with some of the best pitching in the country. Joining the top-seeded Dirtbags (37-19), will be West Coast Conference Champion and second-seeded San Diego (41-15), Pac-10 at-large pick and third-seeded California (33-19) and fourth-seeded and Western Athletic Conference Champion Fresno State (37-27).
Head Coach Mike Weathers saw three of the aces with Team USA this past summer in Cal's RHP Tyson Ross (7-3, 4.40) and San Diego's lefthanders Brian Matusz (11-2, 1.88) and Josh Romanksi (9-0, 3.76). LBSU's own ace is Clemens Semifinalist Andrew Liebel (8-3, 1.81).
Long Beach State, the co-champions of the Big West who won the automatic berth after taking two of three from CS Fullerton this past weekend, and has won 10 of their last 12. LBSU is making their 19th NCAA Appearance, and have advanced to four College World Series (1989, 1991, 1993, 1998) and two NCAA Super Regionals (2003-04)
The winner of this bracket will face off with national third-seed Arizona State's bracket, which features Oklahoma, Vanderbilt and Stony Brook.
Cal will face San Diego at 2 p.m. on Friday, while the Dirtbags will host Fresno State at 6 p.m. Saturday's games are at 2 and 6 p.m. and Sunday's games are at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. In the double elimination format, if two teams remain with a single loss on Sunday, the if game is on Monday at 6 p.m.
LBSU is a combined 1-7 against the other three teams in the bracket. During the team's 10-game road swing through Northern California in late March and early April, when the team went 1-9, LBSU were swept at Cal (6-1, 10-6, 4-3) and lost at Fresno State (7-6). The Dirtbags were swept in the two games with San Diego (5-3, 4-2) and beat FSU (2-1) in May.

All-session tickets are $80 for box seats and $60 for general admission for the three-day, six-game, possible four-day (and seven game) regional. Single game tickets will go on sale Friday.
