Jeanes Leads 49ers to 4-3 Win at UCSB

GOLETA--Freshman Stephanie Jeanes made sure No. 35-ranked Long Beach State (13-5) remained atop the Big West leaderboard, winning the decisive singles point, leading the 49ers to a 4-3 victory over host UC Santa Barbara (7-12). The 49ers remain undefeated against the rest of the Big West (6-0) with two conference matches remaining.

Jeanes beat Charlottte Scatliffe at the No. 4 singles position, 7-5, 6-4 while also winning the lone doubles match with partner Jessica Weeks, 8-3. Senior Stephanie Bengson moved to within a single victory of the all-time singles record at Long Beach State, winning 6-2, 6-1 over Jill Damion, while No. 101 ranked Hannah Grady swept by Marta Simic, 6-0, 6-2.

Also winning in singles was Lisa Sutton, at the No. 6 position, as she beat Brittany Kausen, 6-2, 6-3. Sutton is now the sixth 49er to 10 wins this season, going 10-5 in the spring.

LBSU is next in action when they travel to Cal Poly tomorrow.
